Vocal Pause

May 2025

It is with a very heavy heart that I am taking a temporary pause from singing in order to protect my voice… This will likely be for the month of May, however I will keep everyone updated as I may be back sooner.

Since December, I have unfortunately been ill with almost every upper respiratory nasty that has been going round:

• 100 Day Cough (Whooping cough)

• Chest infection

• Flu

• Common colds

• Laryngitis

I am blessed beyond words to sing with hundreds of people every week! However, my GP explained to me that I am at high risk of getting ill, due to my vocation travelling round lots of care homes, combined with the deeper inhalation needed for singing.

Unfortunately, this has all taken a toll on my vocal folds which have been weakened by the the illness (especially that 100 days of coughing and bashing my poor vocal folds!) I am seeing an ENT and laryngology specialist, and seeking advice from my wonderful singing teacher.

I have let all those who are immediately affected know privately. I am especially gutted to be letting down so many people during the VE Day 80th anniversary celebration week… 6 care homes, 1 dementia cafe, and a soloist Fauré Requiem with The Barnby Choir.

God has a purpose and plan, and it is all in his mighty hands 🤲🏻 He has already answered so many prayers with getting appointments and medical paperwork sorted so quickly!

Thank you to all my lovely clients who have been so kind and understanding 🥹

Meanwhile, my husband is getting very good at interpreting my sign language while I am on vocal rest 😂😉
