September Round-Up

September has been an exciting month for me as I started my new role as the Assistant Director of the Halle Children's Choir in Manchester, under the mentorship of the wonderful Shirley Court. To stand in front of 90 children all singing beautifully together is a true privilege!

Also this month, I have met residents in five new care homes, as well as returning to see friendly faces from four of the homes I sang in last month. I also visited the Still Waters Dementia Cafe in Buxton, which was a truly heartwarming and emotional morning.

September also brought with it my birthday! I enjoyed two cheerful renditions of "Happy Birthday", the first from the children at this week's rehearsal, and the second from the lovely folks at Thornhill House in Great Longstone.

However, this month has also come with a nationwide sense of loss, as we saw the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday 8th September. To mark the life of such an inspirational and selfless lady, all my singing sessions for the month were in memory of Her Majesty, with a song from each of the UK's four nations, as well as some of the Queen's favourite wartime songs and lively tunes.

May she rest in peace. Thank you Ma'am.
