Remembrance Day 2022

It was lovely to spend Remembrance Day 2022 with the residents at Cavendish Court Care Home in Alderley Edge today.

There were only 8 residents in the singing session, but they were so lively it created the most wonderful atmosphere!

We had some beautiful poignant songs of Remembrance... "Ave Maria", "If you Were the Only Girl in the World" and "White Cliffs of Dover". As well as my favourite hymn "How Great Thou Art" which everyone joined in with using word sheets. We also recited the poem "In Flanders Fields" together and spoke about the significance of the poppy.

One of the residents had also written her own poem, which brought a tear to my eye! Everyone in the room was silent as we listened to her beautiful words... it was so poignant, and a special way to remember those who gave their lives for us during the wars.

We ended the session with some lively numbers so that it wasn't all slow, reflective music. We had some Buddy Holly, Billy Fury, and Frank Sinatra, with all of the residents tapping along and one lovely lady dancing with me in the middle!

I absolutely love spending time with the folks at Cavendish Court! I can't wait to see them all again in Christmas week for our Christmassy sing song! See you soon...
