What an action shot!
Last week I was away from home for a couple of nights on a mini tour with the Hallé for one of their education/outreach projects... Hallé Storytime.
Myself and a trio of talented Hallé orchestra musicians went to Bridlington, Withernsea and Hornsea on the Yorkshire coast to perform some informal, interactive concerts for families with young children. In connection with Classically Yours, Orchestras Live, Hallé Connect, and East Riding Council. Steve Pickett (composer) and Jo Brockbank (script writer) at the Hallé created two brand new pieces for us to perform, "The Hallé Bears" and "The Further Aventures of Jack and the Beanstalk". My role was the narrator/storyteller/singer... I describe it as being a CBeebies presenter!
It was truly magical to see the children's faces when the string trio played... they were mesmerised. We even let them have a go on the glockenspiel, snare drum, and cymbal at the end of the performances. I met lots of their lovely teddy bears as well!
What a lovely week with great company, wonderful music, and seaside air! X
