Wow! What an amazing afternoon singing session today at The Dales assisted living and residential home for adults with SEN, complex needs, and Autsim in Leek.
I was greeted at the front door by a lovely gentleman who kindly carried one of my bags for me. We were reunited, having me previously at the Ladydale Care Home next door. The atmosphere in the lounge was full of excitement as everyone was gathered ready to sing!
We had some Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Buddy Holly, and Dean Martin. As well as "Valerie", "Dancing Queen", and "Sweet Caroline" which were definite favourites.
When singing the Dean Martin songs, some of the lyrics are in Italian, so we got to thinking about what Italians like to eat... "Spaghetti bolognaise" and "pizza" of course!
At the end of the session, we took a group photo together to remember our lovely afternoon. And one young gent even took me to my car and opened the car door for me!
Thank you so much Dianne and Chloe, the wonderful care staff at The Dales, for having me to sing. I can't wait to see you all again in Christmas week!
